the cycle of the soul? – Well, my tribe
believes that it’s synced with the world around us,
particularly the ocean. And that the spirit of our
ancestors live in the sea. The good ones act as an
intermediary between us and God. – Is that what you believe? – Well, I believe
that when you die, your soul enters an
in-between stage. The souls of good people

and then my mom got married to my step-dad, who’s Muslim,
and then we converted. He was an American

your biological dad? – No, he died when I was a baby. My step-dad died
